Navot Miller | A Pink John Deere | January 21, 2022 – March 26, 2022

1. Pink*: The color pink appears predominately in most of the paintings exhibited in Navot Miller‘s ‘A Pink John Deere’ at Wannsee Contemporary. From a pink tractor to a pink sky to pink bodies and pink treetops, Miller’s liberty in the use of pink is challenging as it resists common conventions. In the queer subjectivity that Miller allures us into with his grandeur use of colors, pink holds, in this exhibition, a first and foremost role. Living in a time and space in which the color of gender is still pink and blue, the intensity of Miller’s color palette allows him to appropriate both human forms and physical objects into his queer world.
2. John Deere: John Deere is an American renowned brand manufacturing agricultural machinery. The agriculture products of the company, usually painted in a distinctive shade of green and yellow, have been an inseparable of Navot Miller‘s childhood landscape. Growing up on a cooperative agricultural Israeli settlement in the West Bank, the large-scale John Deere’s behemoth have been a source of strength and pride for the community Miller grew up in as they cultivated and marked the land.
